Destination Walks

Updated: Apr 7, 2022

Before COVID-19 hit and life was semi-normal, residents and neighbors in the Oliver Community used to tour Baltimore within a 1-2 mile radius of our community. It started out as a group of people who just want to exercise by getting some walking in, but then we thought, why not walk a different route each time, and let's select an interesting destination, preferably with food or coffee. So, Destination Walks was born!

Our walks took place Saturday mornings, at 8 am. We would walk to a destination, mostly breakfast or coffee shops, farmers markets or whatever was open at that time of morning, where we could get a bite to eat or coffee or tea. It was great exercise! But even more than

that, it's been a great way to meet and connect with neighbors. We had the opportunity to enjoy each others company and to also discuss any community concerns and happenings.

We sometimes met up with residents from neighboring communities such as Broadway East and Old Goucher. Oliver is less than 2 miles from Downtown Baltimore and is within walking distance to many attractions. On our route, we took photos along the way of our beautiful city and always took a group photo at our final destination. As you can see, we got around!
